Scientific Instrumentation & Advanced Technology

Our laboratory is equipped with world-class analytical tools to ensure the highest standards of precision in gemstone research and certification.

PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS

Standard Gemological Tools

The foundational pillar of our laboratory. These precision instruments allow
for the essential initial assessment of every specimen that enters PGGL.

Gemological Microscope

Purpose: Examination of inclusions, treatments, clarity characteristics, natural vs synthetic identification, and origin indications.

Refractometer

Measures refractive index (RI) and birefringence, which are among the most important properties for gemstone identification.

Polariscope

Determines optical character, singly or doubly refractive nature, strain patterns, and optic sign.

Spectroscope

Studies absorption spectra and helps identify gemstones and coloring elements.

Dichroscope

Detects pleochroism and assists in identifying colored gemstones.

Chelsea Filter

Purpose: Used as a supporting test for emeralds and certain colored gemstones.

UV Lamp (Long Wave & Short Wave)

Detects fluorescence and assists in gemstone identification and treatment detection.

Specific Gravity (Hydrostatic Balance)

Measures specific gravity (SG), an important physical property for gem identification.

10x Triplet Loupe

Initial examination of inclusions, polish, symmetry, and surface features.

ADVANCED SPECTROSCOPY

Molecular Fingerprinting

Our advanced analytical wing utilizes quantum-level physics to determine chemical compositions and detect treatments invisible to traditional gemological tools.

FTIR Spectrometer

Detection of gemstone treatments, diamond type classification, and identification of fillers, oils, and polymers.

Raman Spectrometer

Advanced identification of gemstones and mineral inclusions.

UV-Vis-NIR Spectrometer

Analysis of trace elements, color-causing agents, and treatment detection.

Photoluminescence (PL) Spectrometer

Advanced diamond and colored stone analysis.

EDXRF Spectrometer

Determines chemical composition and trace elements.

EDXRF Spectrometer

Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence determines precise chemical composition and detects critical trace elements for origin verification.

Our Scientific Protocol

Standard Initial Intake

Every stone undergoes mandatory primary testing with our core gemological suite to establish its basic identity and properties.

Advanced Spectroscopy

If ambiguities remain, the specimen is moved to the molecular lab for detailed spectral analysis and chemical fingerprinting.

Peer Verification

Data is cross-referenced with our internal database and global standards before being certified by at least two senior gemologists.

Uncompromising Accuracy.

Trust the equipment, rely on the experts. Experience the gold standard in gemological certification.
